Ṣāliḥ ibn Muḥammad Jazrah said, “Bishr ibn al-Walīd is truthful, yet he is no longer of sound mind; he had become senile.” (1)
Abū ʿAbd al-Raḥmān al-Sulamī said, “I asked Abū al-Ḥasan al-Dāraqutnī about Bishr ibn al-Walīd, and he replied, ‘Reliable.’” (2)
Others added, “Bishr was harsh in his legal rulings, though upright. When questions arose in Sufyān ibn ʿUyaynah’s gathering he would say, ‘Ask Bishr ibn al-Walīd.’” (3)
Bishr died in Dhū al-Qaʿdah of the year 238 AH.

a man asked the Prophet ﷺ, “Who among people is most entitled to my good companionship?” He answered, “Your mother.” The man asked, “Then who?” He replied, “Then your mother.” He asked again, “Then who?” He said, “Then your mother.” He asked, “Then who?” He said, “Then your father.”

In that same year there also died Isḥāq ibn Rāhwayh, ʿUbayd Allāh ibn Muʿādh, and Muḥammad
