I say: He lived for fifty-six years.
He passed away in 224 AH.
244 – Ḥawtharah ibn Ashras ibn ʿAwn ibn Mujashshir ibn Ḥujayn al-ʿAdawī*
A hadith scholar of proven truthfulness, Abū ʿĀmir al-ʿAdawī of Basra.
He heard ḥadīths from Jaʿfar ibn Kaysān Abū Maʿrūf, Mubārak ibn Faḍālah, Ḥammād ibn Salamah, ʿUqbah ibn ʿAbd Allāh al-Rifāʿī, and a number of others.
Among those who narrated from him are Abū Zurʿah, Abū Ḥātim, ʿAbd Allāh ibn Aḥmad, al-Firyābī, Abū Yaʿlā, al-Ḥasan ibn Sufyān, and others.
He died at the end of 232 AH; I know of no criticism against him.
Some of his higher-isnād reports have reached me in the Musnad of Abū Yaʿlā.
As for Jaʿfar ibn Kaysān, he is a shaykh of unknown standing; he narrates from ʿAmrah al-ʿAdawiyyah—a female Successor who met ʿĀʾishah.
245 – Ḥaywah ibn Shurayḥ ibn Yazīd al-Ḥaḍramī** (Kh, D, T, Q)
The imām, meticulous and reliable muhaddith, Abū al-ʿAbbās al-Ḥaḍramī al-Shāmī, of Ḥimṣ.
