from ʿAbd al-Muʿizz ibn Muḥammad. Tamīm ibn Abī Saʿīd informed us; they said: ʿUmar ibn Masrūr informed us; Ismāʿīl ibn Nujayd informed us; Muḥammad ibn Ibrāhīm al-Būshanjī narrated to us; Yaḥyā ibn ʿAbd Allāh ibn Bukayr narrated to us; al-Layth told me, on the authority of Ḥaywah ibn Shurayḥ, from ʿUqbah ibn Muslim, from ʿAbd Allāh ibn al-Ḥārith ibn Jazʾ —may Allah be pleased with him—who said:
“I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, ‘Woe to the heels and the soles of the feet from the Fire.’ (1)”
This is a sound chain of transmission and counts among the elevated isnāds.
211 – Abū al-Yanbaghī*
A gifted poet, noted for his wit, satire, and panegyrics of caliphs and commanders. Al-Marzubānī devoted a separate monograph to his exploits. He used to say, “I served al-Manṣūr when I was thirteen years old,” and he lived on into the era of al-Muʿtaṣim. He is the one who recited at the wedding of Būrān:
“May Allah bless al-Ḥasan,
and bless Būrān upon this union;
O Imām of guidance, you have prevailed—
but whose daughter have you won?”
