—Yahya ibn ʿAbd al-Hamid; Qays ibn al-Rabiʿ related to us, from Ziyad ibn ʿIlaqah, from ʿUmārah ibn Aws—who had prayed facing both qiblahs—who said:
“I was in my house when a herald called out at the door: ‘The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) has changed the direction of prayer!’ I testify that our imam, the men, women, and children all performed the prayer facing this side—meaning Jerusalem—and then that side—meaning the Kaʿbah (1).”
I recited this report before Abū Saʿīd Sunqur al-Ḥalabī. ʿAbd al-Laṭīf ibn Yūsuf informed you; Abū al-Ḥusayn ʿAbd al-Ḥaqq ibn ʿAbd al-Khāliq informed us; ʿAlī ibn Muḥammad informed us; Abū al-Ḥasan ʿAlī ibn Aḥmad ibn al-Ḥammāmī informed us; ʿAbd al-Bāqī ibn Qāniʿ informed us; ʿAbd Allāh ibn Muḥammad narrated to us; Yahya al-Himmānī narrated to us; Qays narrated to us, from Ziyad ibn ʿIlaqah, from ʿUmārah ibn Aws—one of those who prayed toward both qiblahs—who said:
“I was in my house when a caller called to me at the door: ‘The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) has turned the qiblah toward the Kaʿbah.’”
This is a singular hadith, conveyed through a lofty chain.
ʿAbd al-Ḥāfiẓ ibn Badrān informed us; Mūsā ibn ʿAbd al-Qādir informed us; Ibn al-Bannāʾ informed us; Ibn al-Busri informed us; al-Mukhalliṣ informed us; ʿAbd Allāh narrated to us; Yahya al-Himmānī narrated to us; ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz ibn Muḥammad narrated to us, from ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Ḥumayd ibn ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn ʿAwf, from his father, from his grandfather, who said:
The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “Abū Bakr is in Paradise, ʿUmar is in Paradise, ʿUthmān is in Paradise, ʿAlī is in Paradise, Ṭalḥah is in Paradise, al-Zubayr is in Paradise, Ibn ʿAwf is in Paradise, and Saʿd is in—”
