Then Abu Bakr arrived; the Prophet again said, “A man from the people of Paradise will now come to you.”
ʿUmar then appeared, and he repeated, “A man from the people of Paradise will now come to you.”
Jābir adds: “I saw him lower his head from beneath the trellis and heard him say, ‘O Allah, if You will, make it ʿAlī.’
ʿAlī duly came. The Ansari woman slaughtered a sheep for the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and prepared it; he ate and we ate. When the time for Ẓuhr arrived he rose and prayed, and we prayed with him without having performed ablution; when ʿAṣr came, he prayed again and we prayed, and neither he nor we had renewed our ablution.
