Muḥammad ibn ʿĪsā ibn Abī Qimāsh said, “I saw ʿAmr with a red-dyed head and beard; he used to color them with henna, and he died in Basra in the month of Ṣafar, in the year 224 AH.” (1)
As for:
118 – ʿAmr ibn Marzūq al-Wāshiḥī (2) al-Baṣrī
He was a hadith transmitter, truthful (ṣadūq), belonging to the same rank as the shaykhs of the first ʿAmr.
He narrated from ʿAwn ibn Abī Shaddād and others.
Those who reported from him include Muslim ibn Ibrāhīm, Abū al-Walīd, Abū ʿUmar al-Ḥawḍī, and Abū Salamah.
Ibn Maʿīn said, “There is nothing objectionable about him.” (3)
I (the author) state: No report of his is found in the Six Books; I have mentioned him only for the sake of distinction.
119 – Muḥammad ibn al-Rūmī al-Baṣrī (d.)
He is Muḥammad, the son of the hadith scholar ʿUmar, son of the hadith scholar ʿAbd Allāh ibn ʿAbd al-Raḥmān.
