ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Khirāsh said, “He is trustworthy.” (1)
Al-Nasāʾī and others stated, “There is nothing objectionable about him.”
Hanbal transmitted from Abū ʿAbd Allāh who said, “He made many mistakes; he was young and his retention was weak.”
I asked Abū ʿAbd Allāh, “How is he in narrations other than those of Sufyān?” He replied, “He was a righteous, reliable man, unobjectionable in his person, and what report did he not possess?”—meaning that he had a vast store of hadith. (2)
ʿAbd Allāh ibn Aḥmad said, “I heard my father mention Qabīṣah and Abū Ḥudhayfah. He said, ‘In Sufyān’s narrations Qabīṣah is far more accurate; Abū Ḥudhayfah is virtually nothing, though I have written from them both.’” (3)
Ṣāliḥ Jazara remarked, “Qabīṣah was a righteous man, but people have spoken about what he actually heard from Sufyān.” (4)

Aḥmad ibn Salamah al-Naysābūrī said, “I heard Hannād more than once, whenever Qabīṣah was mentioned, say, ‘That righteous man,’ and his eyes would fill with tears—for Hannād was much given to weeping.” (5)
Al-Faḍl ibn Sahl al-Aʿraj said, “Qabīṣah used to relate the hadith of Sufyān al-Thawrī …”
