He was declared reliable by ʿAlī ibn al-Madīnī and by others, and among the early scholars who transmitted from him was Baqiyyah ibn al-Walīd.
He passed away at the beginning of the year 208 AH, in Baghdad.

‘When the muʾadhdhin gives the call to prayer and a person says, “O Allah, Lord of this perfect call and of the prayer that is about to be established, grant Muḥammad what he seeks on the Day of Resurrection,” he will assuredly obtain the intercession of Muḥammad ﷺ on the Day of Resurrection.’ (1)”

“The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, ‘I saw my Lord—in a dream…,’” and he mentioned the remainder of the ḥadith. (2)
The complete version appears in al-Bayhaqī’s compilation, but it is a munkar report; we ask Allah
