And Ahmad ibn Abi Khaythama transmitted—on the authority of Muhammad ibn Yazid—who said:
“Muhammad ibn ʿAbd Allah al-Asadi used to fast perpetually. If, at the pre-dawn meal, he ate a whole loaf of bread he would suffer no headache; but if he ate only half a loaf, a headache would afflict him from midday until sunset. Should he forego the pre-dawn meal altogether, he would be troubled by headache for the entire day. (1)”
Abu Dawud said: “Abu Ahmad was a rope-maker; he sold ropes.”
Ahmad ibn Hanbal and Muṭayyin said: “He died in Ahwaz in the year 203 AH.” Muṭayyin added: “In Jumada al-Ula of that year.”
