I read before Aḥmad ibn ʿAbd al-Ḥamīd; Mūsā ibn ʿAbd al-Qādir then said to you: “Abū’l-Waqt al-Sijzī informed us; Abū’l-Ḥasan al-Dāwūdī informed us; ʿAbd Allāh ibn Aḥmad informed us; Ibrāhīm ibn Khuzaym informed us; ʿAbd ibn Ḥumayd narrated to us; Yaʿqūb ibn Ibrāhīm narrated to me; my father narrated to me, from Ṣāliḥ ibn Kaysān, who said that Nāfiʿ narrated to us, that Ibn ʿUmar said:
The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said, “People will stand before the Lord of all worlds on the Day of Resurrection until one of them is submerged in his own sweat up to the middle of his ears.”
Muslim (1) also recorded this ḥadīth, through the route of ʿAbd.
185 – His brother: Saʿd ibn Ibrāhīm al-Zuhrī * (Kh, S)
• Father of: ʿAbd Allāh and ʿUbayd Allāh.
• He heard ḥadīth from: his father, Ibn Abī Dhīb, and ʿUbayda ibn Abī Rāʾiṭah.
• Narrated from him: his two sons, Aḥmad ibn Ḥanbal, Muḥammad ibn al-Ḥusayn al-Burjalānī, and Muḥammad ibn Saʿd.
(1) No. 2862, in the section “Paradise, its delights and its dwellers,” chapter: “The description of the Day of Resurrection.” Al-Bukhari also records it, 11/340, in Kitab al-Riqaq, chapter on the verse: “Do those people not realize that they will be resurrected?” (Q 83:4), through the chain: Ismail b. Aban — ‘Isa b. Yunus — Ibn ‘Awn — Nafi‘ — Ibn ‘Umar.
Ibn Majah transmits it (4278) via Abu Bakr b. Abi Shaybah — ‘Isa b. Yunus — Ibn ‘Awn; al-Bukhari, 8/534-535, via Ma‘n b. ‘Isa — Malik — Nafi‘ — Ibn ‘Umar; and al-Tirmidhi (2422) via Hammad b. Zayd — Ayyub — Nafi‘ — Ibn ‘Umar.
It is found in the Musnad several times, all through Nafi‘ from Ibn ‘Umar: 2/13, 19, 70, 105, 112, 125, 126.
