He also narrated from Hamzah and from Sufyān al-Thawrī.
Among those who transmitted from him were Dirār ibn Ṣurad and Aḥmad ibn Ḥumayd.
Al-Dūrī said: al-Kisāʾī told me, “I was reciting to Hamzah when Sulaym entered, so I hesitated. Hamzah said, ‘Do you hold him in awe but not me?’ I replied, ‘Master, if I slip you will correct me, whereas if I slip before him he will reproach me.’”
It is reported that Sulaym completed ten full readings of the Qur’an before Hamzah ibn Ḥabīb.
Khallaf and Hārūn ibn Ḥātim said that Sulaym died in 188 AH; others said 189 AH.
