Muḥammad ibn ʿAbd Allāh ibn ʿAmmār said: Wakiʿ told us, “Asbāṭ ibn Muḥammad possesses three thousand (1) hadiths, so make sure you listen to him.”
al-Ḥasan ibn ʿĪsā related: “I asked Ibn al-Mubārak about him and about Ibn Fuḍayl. He stayed silent for a while and then said, ‘I do not think our companions are satisfied with either of them.’ ”
He passed away in the year 200 AH, in Muḥarram.
I read to Muḥammad ibn Qāymāz the Qurʾān-reciter, who informed us—Muḥammad ibn Qawwām, in the year 630 AH, informed us; Khalīl ibn Badr informed us; Abū ʿAlī al-Muqriʾ informed us; Abū Nuʿaym informed us; ʿAbd Allāh ibn Jaʿfar narrated to us; Aḥmad ibn al-Furāt narrated to us; Azhar ibn Saʿd, from Ibn ʿAwn, from Ibn Sīrīn, narrated:
“There is no harm in drinking the dross of iron when it is mixed with milk.”
Aḥmad ibn Salāmah also transmitted this report to us from Khalīl.
