al-Ismāʿīlī narrated to us; Muḥammad ibn Yaḥyā ibn Sulaymān narrated to us; ʿĀṣim ibn ʿAlī narrated to us; Shuʿbah narrated to us, from al-Ḥakam, from Dharr, from Ibn ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Abzā, from his father, who said:
A man came to ʿUmar and said, ‘I have become junub (in a state of major ritual impurity) and I cannot find water.’
ʿAmmār ibn Yāsir said, ‘Do you not remember that we were on a military detachment in the time of the Prophet ﷺ, and both you and I became junub? You, however, did not pray, whereas I rolled about in the dust and prayed. When I told the Prophet ﷺ about that, he said, “All that was required of you was this.”’ He then struck the ground with the palms of his hands, blew into them, and wiped them over his face and hands.
Agreed upon, related by Ghundar and al-Qaṭṭān from Shuʿbah. (1)
