Through the same chain it is reported: “Whoever is afflicted by a calamity, then seeks his reward with Allah and does not complain to people, it is incumbent upon Allah to forgive him.”
Another report states: “Do not eat with five fingers, for that is the way of the Bedouins; nor with the index finger and thumb, but rather with three, for that is the Sunnah.”
These narrations are worthless fabrications.
Abu Ḥātim said about the ḥadīth that “combing the eyebrow leads to blindness,” the ḥadīth about the calamity, and the ḥadīth about eating with five fingers: “These are fabricated; they have no basis.” (1)
Aḥmad ibn Yūnus al-Ḥimṣī said: al-Walīd ibn Muslim narrated to us, from Baqiyyah, from Ibn Jurayj, from ʿAṭāʾ, from Ibn ʿAbbās:
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ granted a concession regarding the blood of al-ḥubūn (bleeding during pregnancy). (2)
ʿUmar ibn Sinān al-Manbijī and ʿAbdān told us: Abū al-Taqī Hishām ibn ʿAbd al-Malik narrated to us, Baqiyyah narrated to us, Mālik ibn Anas narrated to me, from ʿAbd al-Karīm al-Ḥamdānī, from Abū Ḥamzah, who said:
The Prophet ﷺ was asked about a man who forgot the adhān and the iqāmah, and he replied, “Allah overlooks forgetfulness in the prayer for my community.”
Ibn Ḥibbān then commented: “ʿAbd al-Karīm is al-Jazarī, and Abū Ḥamzah is Anas ibn Mālik; this was related to us by ʿAbdān and Ibn Sinān.”
I say: This ḥadīth is unacceptable. It has also been narrated by al-Walīd ibn ʿUtbah the reciter, who said:
Baqiyyah narrated to us, ʿUbayd—a man from Hamdān—narrated to us, from Qatādah
