—O Abū ʿAmr, are you also going to publicize this against us?! (1)
Al-ʿAbbās ibn Muṣʿab said: One of our companions related to me that he heard Abū Wahb say: Ibn al-Mubārak passed by a blind man who pleaded, “I ask you to supplicate that Allah restore my sight.” Ibn al-Mubārak prayed, and Allah returned the man’s sight while I was watching.
Abū Ḥassān ʿĪsā ibn ʿAbd Allāh al-Baṣrī reported: I heard al-Ḥasan ibn ʿArafah say that Ibn al-Mubārak told him, “While I was in Syria I borrowed a pen, intending to return it. When I reached Marw I discovered it was still with me, so I travelled back to Syria and returned it to its owner.” (2)
Aswad ibn Sālim said: “Ibn al-Mubārak was an imām whose conduct was worthy of emulation; he was among the firmest of people in adhering to the Sunnah. If you see a man finding fault with Ibn al-Mubārak, then suspect that man’s very Islam.” (3)
Abū al-Maʿālī Aḥmad ibn Isḥāq ibn Muḥammad al-Miṣrī narrated these reports to us; so did al-Fath ibn ʿAbd Allāh ibn Muḥammad al-Kātib in Baghdad, Abū al-Faḍl Muḥammad ibn ʿUmar the judge, Abū Ghālib Muḥammad ibn ʿAlī ibn al-Dāyah, and Abū ʿAbd Allāh Muḥammad ibn Aḥmad al-Ṭarāʾifī (ḥ).
Yahyā ibn Abī Manṣūr and ʿAlī ibn Aḥmad likewise informed us in writing, saying: ʿUmar ibn Tabarzd conveyed it to us; Abū Manṣūr Muḥammad ibn ʿAbd al-Malik the reciter transmitted it; and Yahyā transmitted it; ʿUmar ibn Muḥammad conveyed it; Yahyā ibn ʿAlī ibn al-Ṭarrāḥ, ʿAbd al-Khāliq ibn ʿAbd al-Ṣamad, and Abū Ghālib ibn al-Bannāʾ also transmitted it (ḥ).
Abū al-Murhaf al-Miqdād ibn Abī al-Qāsim al-Qaysī informed us as well, and Ibn Muḥammad al-Razzāz transmitted it (ḥ).
