Siyar Aʿlām al-NubalāʾShams al‑Din al‑Dhahabi

ʿAbd al-Ḥāfiẓ ibn Badrān and Yūsuf ibn Aḥmad narrated to us, saying:
Mūsā ibn ʿAbd al-Qādir informed us; Saʿīd ibn Aḥmad informed us; ʿAlī ibn Aḥmad al-Bundār informed us; Abū Ṭāhir al-Mukhalliṣ narrated to us; ʿAbd Allāh ibn Muḥammad narrated to us; ʿAbd al-Jabbār ibn ʿĀṣim narrated to us; ʿUbayd Allāh ibn ʿAmr related to me, from ʿAbd al-Malik ibn ʿUmayr, from Jābir ibn Samurah:

A man asked the Messenger of Allah—peace and blessings be upon him—“May I pray in the garment in which I have intercourse with my wife?” He replied, “Yes, unless you see something on it; then wash it.”

This is an authentic hadith with an elevated chain for scholars of our standing.
It was reported solely by Ibn Mājah (1) through one of his teachers, from ʿUbayd Allāh ibn ʿAmr al-Raqqī.

The ḥāfiẓ, the imām, the hadith scholar of Syria, the last of the great authorities, Abū ʿUtbah.

…The trumpet will be blown, and everyone in the heavens and on earth will fall unconscious except those whom Allah wills; on that day no family ties will avail them and they will not ask one another. Then, at the second blast, they will turn to one another and begin to question. As for His words, “We were not idolaters,” and, “they will not conceal anything from Allah,” Allah will pardon the sins of those who were sincere (ahl al-ikhlas). The polytheists will say, “Let us claim that we were never idolaters,” whereupon their mouths will be sealed and their hands will speak. At that moment they will realise that nothing can be hidden from Allah, and the disbelievers will wish… (end of the verse). He created the earth in two days, then created the heaven; thereafter He turned toward the heaven and fashioned them in another two days. Then He daha (spread) the earth—its dahw being that He brought forth from it water and pasture—and He created the mountains, livestock, small hills and whatever lies between them in another two days. That is the meaning of His saying, “dahaha (He spread it).” Regarding His statement, “He created the earth in two days,” the earth and everything within it were completed in four days, while the heavens were created in two. “Allah has always been Forgiving.” He named Himself thus, meaning that this attribute has never ceased to be His. Whatever Allah wills inevitably comes to pass. Hence the Quran contains no contradiction, for all of it is from Allah. (1) Sunan Abu Dawud, hadith 366; al-Nasai, 1/55; Ibn Majah, hadith 540. Through the chain: al-Layth ibn Saʿd – Yazid ibn Abi Habib – Suwayd ibn Qays – Muʿawiya ibn Hidayj – Muʿawiya ibn Abi Sufyan. He asked his sister Umm Habiba, the Prophet’s wife: “Did the Messenger of Allah pray in the garment in which he had had intercourse?” She replied, “Yes, provided no impurity was on it.” See also: Ibn Maʿin, Tarikh, p. 36; Khalifa, Tarikh, p. 32; al-Bukhari, al-Tarikh al-Kabir, 1/369.
