ʿAbbād — from Mujālid, from al-Shaʿbī, from Masrūq, from ʿĀʾishah who said:
A woman from the Anṣār came in and saw the Messenger of Allah’s ﷺ bedding: it was only a cloak folded in two. She went away and sent me a mattress stuffed with wool.
The Prophet ﷺ entered and asked, “What is this?” I informed him.
He said, “Send it back.” I did not send it back, for I liked the idea of having it in my house, until he had said that three times.
Then he declared, “Send it back. By Allah, had I wished, Allah would have caused mountains of gold and silver to accompany me.” (1)
