Muḥammad ibn ʿAbd Allāh ibn ʿAmmār said, “He is more reliable than Jarīr ibn ʿAbd al-Ḥamīd.”
As for ʿUthmān ibn Abī Shaybah, he used to give precedence to Jarīr over Khālid ibn ʿAbd Allāh.
ʿAmr ibn ʿAwn remarked, “Never did I pray behind Ibn ʿAbd Allāh without hearing the drops of his tears falling on the mat.” ⦗1⦘
ʿAlī ibn ʿAbd Allāh ibn Mubashshir al-Wāsiṭī said that he was born in 110 AH.
ʿAbd al-Ḥamīd ibn Bayān stated, “Khālid the miller died in Rajab of 179 AH; he never used dye, and Yaʿqūb al-Fasawī dated his death to the same year.” ⦗2⦘
Khalīfah and Ibn Saʿd, however, recorded that he died in 182 AH.
Aḥmad ibn Isḥāq informed us; Akmal ibn Abī al-Azhar informed us; Saʿīd ibn Aḥmad informed us; Abū Naṣr al-Zaynabī informed us; Abū Bakr ibn Zunbūr informed us; ʿAbd Allāh ibn Abī Dāwūd informed us; Isḥāq ibn Shāhīn narrated to us: Khālid narrated, from al-Jurayrī, from Ḥakīm ibn Muʿāwiyah, from his father, who said:
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, “In Paradise there is a sea of water, a sea of milk, a sea of wine, and a sea of honey; from them the rivers then burst forth.”
Bahz ibn Ḥakīm transmitted the same report from his father.
Al-Tirmidhī recorded it through the isnād of Yazīd ibn Hārūn, from Bahz, ⦗3⦘ declared it sound, and he alone among the major compilers included it.
