And—by this same chain—to Zuhayr, from Abū Isḥāq, from Nauf, who said:
‘The length of ʿAwj’s (Og’s) couch was eight hundred cubits, its width half that. Moses, peace be upon him, stood ten cubits tall; his staff measured ten; and when he leapt, his jump spanned eight cubits, striking ʿAwj on the ankle. The giant toppled into the Nile of Egypt, and for a full year people used his spine and ribs as a bridge.’ (1)
Through the same chain, from Abū al-Zubayr, from Ibn Abī Mulaykah: ‘ʿĀʾishah used to fast continually, even during the Days of Tashrīq (the three days of festivity that follow ʿEid al-Aḍḥā).’ (2)
Again through this chain, al-Zubayr informed us on the authority of Jābir, who said, ‘To the best of my recollection—and I have no doubt about it—it is from the Prophet ﷺ, who said:
“When the people of Paradise are set apart and enter Paradise, and the people of Hell enter Hell (3), the messengers will stand and intercede. Allah will then say, ‘Go forth; whoever you recognize, bring him out.’ They will bring them out, their bodies scorched, and cast them upon—or into—a river called ‘Life.’ Their entrails will fall upon the banks of the river, and they will emerge white, like fledgling quails.
“The prophets will intercede again, and He will say, ‘Go—or set out—and whoever you find with a qīrāṭ (a small measure) of faith in his heart, bring him out.’ They will rescue many people. They will intercede once more, and He will say, ‘Go; whoever you find with a mustard-seed’s weight of faith in his heart, bring him out.’ They will rescue many people.
“Then Allah will say, ‘Now I Myself will bring out, by My knowledge and My mercy.’ He will release multitudes—many times what they had released—and it will be written on their necks: ‘The freed servants of Allah.’ Then they will enter…”
