The Eighth Tier
- Muḥammad ibn Mūsā al-Fiṭrī * (M, 4)
A hadith scholar of demonstrable authority, Abū ʿAbd Allāh al-Madani, a client (mawlā) of the Fiṭriyyūn—with the fā’ pronounced with a kasrah—who themselves were the clients of Banū Makhzūm.
He narrated from: Saʿīd ibn Abī Saʿīd al-Maqburī; ʿAbd Allāh ibn ʿAbd Allāh ibn Abī Ṭalḥah; Muḥammad ibn ʿUmar ibn Imām ʿAlī; ʿAwn ibn Muḥammad; Yaʿqūb ibn Salamah al-Laythī; Saʿd ibn Isḥāq, and others.
Those who transmitted from him include: ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Mahdī, Ibn Abī Fudayk, Isḥāq ibn Muḥammad al-Farawī, and Qutaybah ibn Saʿīd.
Abū ʿĪsā al-Tirmidhī declared him trustworthy.
Abū Ḥātim said, “Reliable, though he shows a Shiʿite inclination.”
I say: he died in one of the years slightly after 170 AH.
- Maysarah al-Tarrās ibn ʿAbd Rabbih al-Fārisī **
It is said that he is the same Maysarah ibn ʿAbd Rabbih al-Fārisī, later of Basra, famed for his prodigious appetite.

الطَّبَقَةُ الثَّامِنَةُ
١٣ - مُحَمَّدُ بنُ مُوْسَى الفِطْرِيُّ * (م، ٤)
المُحَدِّثُ، الحُجَّةُ، أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ المَدَنِيُّ، مَوْلَى الفِطْرِيِّينَ - بِكَسْرِ الفَاءِ - وَهُم مَوَالِي بَنِي مَخْزُوْمٍ.
يَرْوِي عَنْ: سَعِيْدِ بنِ أَبِي سَعِيْدٍ المَقْبُرِيِّ، وَعَبْدِ اللهِ بنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ بنِ أَبِي طَلْحَةَ، وَمُحَمَّدِ بنِ عُمَرَ بنِ الإِمَامِ عَلِيٍّ، وَعَوْنِ بنِ مُحَمَّدٍ، وَيَعْقُوْبَ بنِ سَلَمَةَ اللَّيْثِيِّ، وَسَعْدِ بنِ إِسْحَاقَ، وَغَيْرِهِم.
حَدَّثَ عَنْهُ: عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بنُ مَهْدِيٍّ، وَابْنُ أَبِي فُدَيْكٍ، وَإِسْحَاقُ بنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الفَرْوِيُّ، وَقُتَيْبَةُ بنُ سَعِيْدٍ.
وَثَّقَهُ: أَبُو عِيْسَى التِّرْمِذِيُّ.
وَقَالَ أَبُو حَاتِمٍ: صَدُوْقٌ، يَتَشَيَّعُ.
قُلْتُ: تُوُفِّيَ سَنَةَ نَيِّفٍ وَسَبْعِيْنَ وَمائَةٍ.
١٤ - مَيْسَرَةُ التَّرَاسُ بنُ عَبْدِ رَبِّهِ الفَارِسِيُّ **
قِيْلَ: هُوَ مَيْسَرَةُ بنُ عَبْدِ رَبِّهِ الفَارِسِيُّ، ثُمَّ البَصْرِيُّ، الأَكُولُ.
