from Mālik ibn Anas, from Sumayy, from Abū Ṣāliḥ:
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, “Travel is a portion of hardship.” (1)
It is extremely singular.
I read to Isḥāq ibn Ṭāriq; Ibn Khalīl informed you; Abū al-Makārim al-Labbān reported to us; Abū ʿAlī al-Ḥaddād reported to us; Abū Nuʿaym reported to us; Abū Bakr ibn Khallād narrated to us; Muḥammad ibn Ghālib narrated to us; al-Qaʿnabī narrated to us.
Likewise, with this same chain up to Abū Nuʿaym, Muḥammad ibn Ḥumayd narrated to us; ʿAbd Allāh ibn Abī Dāwūd narrated to us; ʿAbd al-Malik ibn Shuʿayb ibn al-Layth narrated to us; my father narrated to me, from my grandfather, from Yaḥyā ibn Ayyūb—both of them from Mālik, from Abū al-Zubayr, from Jābir, who said:
“We slaughtered with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ at al-Hudaybiyyah a single camel on behalf of seven people.” (2)
And with this chain up to Abū Nuʿaym, the judge Abū Aḥmad Muḥammad ibn Aḥmad related to us; Bakr ibn Sahl related to us; Muḥammad ibn Makhlad al-Ruʿaynī related to us; Mālik narrated to us, from Abū Ḥāzim, from Sahl, who said:
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ declared, “There are two times when the gates of heaven are opened and a supplication is seldom rejected: at the commencement of the prayer and when the lines form for battle.” (3)
