And with this same chain: ʿAbd Allāh ibn Muḥammad related to us; Ibn Abī ʿĀṣim related to us; I heard Saʿīd ibn ʿAbd al-Jabbār say:
“I heard Mālik declare, ‘My ruling concerning them is that they must be asked to repent; if they repent, so be it, and if not, they are to be put to death.’ He meant the Qadariyyah (1).
And with this chain: Muḥammad ibn ʿAlī al-ʿUqaylī related to us; the judge Abū Umayyah al-Ghalābī related to us; Salamah ibn Shabīb related to us; Mahdī ibn Jaʿfar related to us; Jaʿfar ibn ʿAbd Allāh said:

Then he raised his head, cast the twig aside, and said, ‘How with respect to Him is inconceivable; the rising is not unknown; believing in it is obligatory; asking about it is an innovation, and I think you are an innovator.’ He then ordered that the man be removed, and so he was expelled (3).
“On another occasion while relating this incident,” Salamah ibn Shabīb added, “he said to the questioner, ‘I fear you are misguided.’
And Abū al-Rabīʿ al-Rashīdīnī said: Ibn Wahb related to us, saying, ‘We were with Mālik…’
