In that same year, Saʿd ibn Mālik ibn Khālid ibn Thaʿlaba al-Khazrajī al-Sāʿidī—the father of Sahl ibn Saʿd—passed away. He had set out to join the Battle of Badr but died beforehand, in Ramadan. It is reported that the Prophet ﷺ allotted him a share of the spoils, which he then handed over to Saʿd’s heirs.

In that year, after Badr, Khunays ibn Ḥudhāfa al-Sahmī—one of the Emigrants and a participant in Badr—also died, leaving Ḥafṣah bint ʿUmar ibn al-Khaṭṭāb a widow.

In Shawwāl the Prophet ﷺ consummated his marriage with ʿĀʾishah (may Allah be pleased with her); she was nine years old at the time.
