It was reported from Mālik ibn Sulaymān al-Harawī that Ibrāhīm ibn Ṭahmān died in the year 163 AH. Others say it was in the year 168.
Abū al-Fidāʾ Ismāʿīl ibn ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn al-Munādī informed us; the eminent scholar Muwaffaq al-Dīn ʿAbd Allāh ibn Aḥmad al-Maqdisī—this took place in Rajab 620 AH—related to us; Muḥammad ibn ʿAbd al-Bāqī transmitted to us, and I read it before Sitt al-Ahl bint ʿUlwān (1). Al-Bahāʾ ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Ibrāhīm narrated to us; Fakhr al-Nisāʾ Shahdah (2) also narrated to us. They both said:
Al-Ḥusayn ibn Aḥmad al-Niʿālī informed us; ʿAlī ibn Muḥammad al-Muʿaddal informed us; Abū Jaʿfar Muḥammad ibn ʿAmr al-Razzāz narrated to us; Aḥmad ibn Isḥāq narrated to us; Muḥammad ibn Sinān al-ʿAwqī narrated to us; Ibrāhīm ibn Ṭahmān narrated to us, from Budayl ibn Maysarah, from ʿAbd Allāh ibn Shaqīq, from Maysarat al-Fajr, who said:
I asked, “O Messenger of Allah, when were you written down as a prophet?”
He replied, “When Adam was between spirit and body (3).”
This isnād is sound, yet the report is not found in any of the six canonical collections.
Sunuqr al-Qaḍāʾī also conveyed it to us; ʿAbd al-Laṭīf ibn Yūsuf informed us; ʿAbd al-Ḥaqq al-Yūsufī informed us; ʿAlī ibn Muḥammad al-ʿAllāf informed us; Abū al-Ḥasan ibn al-Ḥammāmī narrated to us; ʿAbd al-Bāqī ibn Qāniʿ narrated to us; Muḥammad ibn Yūnus ibn Mubārak al-Aḥwal narrated to us; Muḥammad ibn Sinān transmitted it with this chain, though he said, “When were you?”
Muḥammad ibn Abī ʿAṣrūn informed us; Abū Rūḥ, by written authorization, transmitted to us; Tamīm transmitted to us;
