Among those who narrated from him were Bishr ibn Mansūr al-Sulamī, Ibn al-Mubārak, ʿAbd al-Razzaq, Idrīs ibn Muḥammad al-Rūdhī, and many others.

Ibn al-Mubārak related that someone asked Wahīb, “Can a person who disobeys (Allah) ever experience the sweetness of worship?” He replied, “Not even one who merely intends to disobey.”
Al-Thawrī remarked, “Rise and go to the physician”—meaning Wahīb.
It is reported that he swore never to laugh until the angels informed him of his rank when the moment of death arrived.
Ibn Maʿīn judged him trustworthy, and al-Nasāʾī said, “There is nothing wrong with him.”
It is said that he died in 153 AH.
