Saʿdān ibn Naṣr, who said: ʿUmar ibn Shabīb narrated to us, from ʿAmr ibn Qays al-Mulāʾī, from ʿAbd al-Malik ibn ʿUmayr, from al-Nuʿmān ibn Bashīr, who reported:
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “The lawful is clear and the unlawful is clear, and between them lie ambiguous matters. Whoever avoids them safeguards his religion and his honor; whoever ventures into them is soon likely to fall into the unlawful, like a shepherd who grazes beside a protected pasture and is about to trespass into it. Every king has a sanctuary, and the sanctuary of Allah is His prohibitions ⦗1⦘.”
Ismāʿīl ibn ʿAbd al-Raḥmān informed us; ʿAbd Allāh ibn Aḥmad informed us; Abū al-Fatḥ ibn al-Nabaṭī likewise informed us (ḥāʾ).
Sitt al-Ahl bint ʿUlwān informed us; al-Bahāʾ ʿAbd al-Raḥmān informed us; Shahdah bint Aḥmad informed us, and they both said: Al-Ḥusayn ibn Aḥmad al-Niʿālī informed us; ʿAlī ibn Muḥammad informed us; Abū Jaʿfar Muḥammad ibn ʿAmr ibn al-Bakhtarī narrated to us; Yaḥyā ibn Jaʿfar narrated to us; ʿAlī ibn ʿĀṣim informed us; Ibn ʿAwn, from Ibrāhīm, from al-Aswad and Masrūq, narrated from ʿĀʾishah:
“The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to engage in affectionate contact with me while he was fasting.”
She then said, “And which of you can control his desire better than the Messenger of Allah ﷺ?”
