Agreed upon, transmitted through the route of Muhammad ibn Ḥarb.
It is also corroborated by ʿAbd Allāh ibn Sālim, from al-Zubaydī.
A slight weakness has been mentioned—one that, God willing, does not impair the report—for ʿUqayl narrated it from al-Zuhrī, from ʿUrwah in mursal form.
Bukhārī disguised the name of Muḥammad ibn Khālid and traced him to his fore-grandfather; he is in fact the imam Muḥammad ibn Yaḥyā ibn ʿAbd Allāh ibn Khālid al-Dhuhlī, the scholar who compiled the ḥadiths of al-Zuhrī.
This narration is counted among Bukhārī’s thumāniyyāt—chains consisting of eight transmitters—although he is also known for several famous thulāthiyyāt, and Allah knows best.
A rare isnād has reached us whose transmitters up to ʿUrwah are all named Muḥammad; it has no equal. They number fifteen Muhammads, and I am the sixteenth.
Aḥmad ibn Isḥāq informed us; Akmal ibn Abī al-Azhar informed us; Saʿīd ibn al-Bannāʾ informed us; Muḥammad ibn Muḥammad al-Zaynabī informed us; Abū Bakr ibn Zunbur informed us; Abū Bakr ibn Abī Dāwūd narrated to us; ʿAmr ibn ʿUthmān narrated to us; Baqiyyah narrated to us; al-Zubaydī told me; al-Zuhrī informed me, from ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Kaʿb, from Kaʿb ibn Mālik:
“The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: ‘People will be gathered on the Day of Resurrection, and I and my community will be upon a mound. Then Allah will clothe me in a green robe; permission will be granted to me, and I shall utter whatever Allah wills me to say. That is the Praiseworthy Station.’ (1)”
This ḥadith has an acceptable isnād, yet it was not recorded in the Six Books.

It is also said that he was Ibn Dhī Marrān ibn Shuraḥbīl, the erudite,
