Using this same chain of transmission, al-Ḥusayn ibn Ismāʿīl narrated to us; Maḥmūd ibn Khidāsh narrated to us; Asbāṭ ibn Muḥammad narrated to us; ʿAmr ibn Qays al-Mulāʾī narrated, saying, “I heard Jaʿfar ibn Muḥammad say:
‘Allah disowns anyone who disowns Abū Bakr and ʿUmar.’
I say: This statement is mass-transmitted from Jaʿfar al-Ṣādiq, and I testify before Allah that he was truthful in what he said, not two-faced (1) toward anyone. May Allah disgrace the Rāfiḍah.
Maʿbad ibn Rāshid narrated from Muʿāwiyah ibn ʿAmmār:
‘I asked Jaʿfar ibn Muḥammad about the Qur’an, and he replied, “It is neither Creator nor created; rather, it is the speech of Allah.”’
Ḥammād ibn Zayd narrated from Ayyūb, who said, “I heard Jaʿfar say, ‘By Allah, we do not know everything that people ask us about, and there are others who know more than we do.’”
Muḥammad ibn ʿImrān ibn Abī Laylā narrated from Maslamah ibn Jaʿfar al-Aḥmasī:
‘I said to Jaʿfar ibn Muḥammad, “Some people claim that if a man pronounces a triple divorce out of ignorance, he is restored to the Sunnah and you count it as only one. They attribute this view to you.”
He replied, “Allah forbid! That is not our position. Whoever pronounces three divorces, it counts exactly as he has said.”’ (2)
