Muʿtamir ibn Sulaymān said: My father declared, “Indeed—by Allah—were the veil lifted, the Qadarites would come to know that Allah is never unjust to His servants.”
Al-Musallam ibn Muḥammad, ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Abī ʿUmar, and a company of scholars, by written licence, informed us that they had heard ʿUmar ibn Muḥammad say: Hibat Allah ibn Muḥammad informed us; Muḥammad ibn Muḥammad informed us; Abū Bakr Muḥammad ibn ʿAbd Allah narrated to us; Abū ʿAbd Allah Aḥmad ibn Muḥammad al-Juʿfī and Isḥāq al-Ḥarbī both said: Hawdhah narrated to us; Sulaymān al-Taymī narrated to us, from Abū ʿUthmān, from Usāmah ibn Zayd, who said:
“The Prophet ﷺ would take me and al-Ḥasan and say, ‘O Allah, I love them both, so love them (1).’ ”
This ḥadīth was also recorded by al-Bukhārī and al-Nasāʾī through the narration of Muʿtamir ibn Sulaymān from his father.
Sulaymān once reported it from Abū Tamīmah, from Abū ʿUthmān, and added, “I later reviewed the matter and realised that I had indeed heard it from Abū ʿUthmān and had written it down.”
Isḥāq al-Asadī informed us; Ibn Khalīl informed us; Abū al-Makārim al-Taymī informed us; and Aḥmad ibn Salāmah and others likewise, from al-Taymī. Abū ʿAlī al-Muqriʾ informed us; Abū Nuʿaym informed us, who said: Abū Bakr ibn Khallād narrated to us; al-Ḥārith ibn Muḥammad narrated to us; ʿAbd al-Wahhāb ibn ʿAtāʾ narrated to us.
Through this same chain Abū Nuʿaym further said: Muḥammad ibn Aḥmad ibn al-Ḥasan, together with a group, told us, saying: Abū Muslim narrated to us; Muʿādh ibn ʿAwḍ Allah narrated to us—and his wording is adopted here—who reported:
Sulaymān al-Taymī narrated to us, from Anas, who said:
“The Prophet ﷺ came out while Muʿādh was at the door and said, ‘O Muʿādh! Whoever dies without associating anything with Allah will enter Paradise.’
Muʿādh asked, ‘Shall I not inform the people?’ ”
