so al-Ḥajjāj dispatched him to ʿAbd al-Malik ibn Marwān, who pardoned him because he had not yet grown any facial hair (1).
He died in 134 AH.
41 – Yazīd ibn Abī Ziyād al-Hāshimī, their client * (4, M qaranahu, khat)
The imām and ḥadīth scholar, Abū ʿAbd Allāh al-Hāshimī, their client, a Kufan, the freedman of ʿAbd Allāh ibn al-Ḥārith ibn Nawfal.
He is counted among the younger Tābiʿīn.
I say: He saw Anas and narrated from his patron ʿAbd Allāh, from Abū Juḥayfah al-Suwaʾī—if that report is authentic—ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Abī Laylā, ʿAbd Allāh ibn Shaddād ibn al-Hād, ʿAmr ibn Salamah al-Hamdānī (not al-Jarmī), ʿAbd Allāh ibn Maʿqil ibn Muqarrin, Mujāhid, ʿIkrimah, ʿAṭāʾ, Abū Ṣāliḥ Dhakwān, Sālim ibn Abī al-Jaʿd, Abū Fākhtah Saʿīd ibn ʿIlāqah, Miqsam, Ibrāhīm al-Nakhaʿī, ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Abī Nuʿm, and a number of others.
His transmission reaches down to ʿAbd Allāh ibn Muḥammad ibn ʿAqīl.
He was a vessel of knowledge, but not precise; therefore the Two Shaykhs did not cite him as an authoritative proof.
Those who narrated from him include: Shuʿbah, al-Thawrī, Abū Ḥamzah al-Sukkārī, Manṣūr ibn Abī al-Aswad, Zāʾidah, Qays, ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz ibn Muslim, Ḥibbān ibn ʿAlī, Sharīk, Hushaym, Ibn ʿUyaynah, ʿAlī ibn Mushir, Ibn Fuḍayl, Abū ʿAwānah, and Jarīr ibn
