He ﷺ also said, “A single prayer in this mosque of mine is better than a thousand prayers offered in any other mosque—except the Mosque of the Kaʿbah.” The report is authentic.
Abū Saʿīd related: “We were carrying bricks one by one, while ʿAmmār was carrying two at a time during the construction of the mosque. The Prophet ﷺ saw him, began brushing the dust from him, and said, ‘Alas for ʿAmmār! The rebellious faction will kill him. He will be calling them to Paradise while they call him to the Fire.’” Al-Bukhārī recorded the narration without the words “the rebellious faction will kill him,” yet this additional phrase is supported by an authentic chain.
A party from the Aws and the Khazraj adopted hypocrisy, outwardly professing Islam to keep on good terms with their people. Among those named are—of the people of Qubāʾ—al-Ḥārith ibn Suwayd ibn al-Ṣāmit; his brother Khallād was a righteous man, and their brother al-Jallās, who was less upright than Khallād.
Other hypocrites included: Nubayṭ ibn al-Ḥārith; Bijād ibn ʿUthmān; Abū Ḥabībah ibn al-Azʿar, one of the men who built Masjid al-Ḍirār; Jāriyah ibn ʿĀmir and his two sons, Zayd and Mujammaʿ—though it is said that the charge of hypocrisy against Mujammaʿ is not firmly established, and that he was listed only because his clan made him the imam of Masjid al-Ḍirār—and ʿAbbād ibn Ḥunaif together with his brothers Sahl and ʿUthmān, both distinguished Companions.
