and Yaḥyā ibn Abī Zakariyyā, Yaḥyā ibn Yaʿlā, Yaḥyā ibn al-Ḥārith al-Murhibī, Yaḥyā ibn Kathīr (1), Yaʿqūb ibn ʿAbd al-Raḥmān, Yaʿqūb ibn Ibrāhīm ibn Saʿd—he comments: “He never met him at all; rather, this Yaʿqūb ibn Ibrāhīm was a Madinan”—Yaʿqūb Abū Yūsuf the judge, Yaʿqūb ibn Muḥammad al-Darāwardī, Yaʿqūb ibn Abī al-Muttaʾid, and Abū Yūsuf Yaʿqūb ibn Muḥammad ibn Khalīfah al-Aʿshā—some say his name was ʿAmr, as mentioned earlier, yet Yaʿqūb is the stronger view—and Yaʿqūb ibn al-Walīd al-Madanī.
Likewise: Yazīd ibn Sinān al-Ruhāwī, Yazīd ibn ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz ibn Siyāh, Yazīd ibn ʿAbd Allāh ibn al-Hād—he died before him—, Yazīd ibn Zurayʿ, and Yazīd ibn ʿIyāḍ.
And Yāsīn ibn Muʿādh, the oil-seller; Yaʿlā ibn ʿUbayd; Yūnus ibn Rāshid; Yūnus ibn Yazīd; Yūnus ibn ʿUbayd—he had passed away; and Yūnus ibn Bukayr of Kufa.
Also: Abū Bakr al-Nahshalī, Abū Bakr ibn Abī Sabrah, Abū Bakr ibn ʿAyyāsh, Abū Sahl al-Khurasānī, Abū Ismāʿīl the tutor Ibrāhīm, Abū Marwān al-Ghassānī, and others.
Among those who corroborated Hishām in this narration were al-Zuhrī, Abū al-Aswad—the ward of ʿUrwah—and Yaḥyā ibn Abī Kathīr.
ʿUmar ibn al-Ḥakam also transmitted it from ʿAbd Allāh ibn ʿAmr ibn al-ʿĀṣ, who said: “from his father ʿAmr.”
It is further reported through Hishām ibn ʿUrwah from his two brothers, Yaḥyā and ʿUthmān, from their father, but this chain is unsound.
ʿAbd Allāh ibn Muṣʿab related from Hishām ibn ʿUrwah who said: “Muḥammad ibn ʿAlī, the father of al-Manṣūr, deposited his testament with me.”
Al-Zubayr ibn Bakkār narrated from ʿUthmān ibn ʿAbd al-Raḥmān who said:
Al-Manṣūr said to Hishām ibn ʿUrwah, “Abū al-Mundhir! Do you remember the day my brothers and I visited you with our father, and you were drinking sawīq through a reed straw? When we left, our father said, ‘Acknowledge this shaykh’s due, for he…’”
