belonging to Sahl and Suhayl. He summoned the two and negotiated with them over the yard so that he might turn it into a mosque, but they said, “Rather, we give it to you as a gift, Messenger of Allah.” He then built it as a mosque, carrying the bricks alongside the people while chanting:

Al-Bukhārī records at full length the story of the migration through the chain of Abū Isḥāq from al-Barāʾ. He also relates, through ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz ibn Ṣuhayb from Anas, who said:
“The Prophet ﷺ approached Madinah while Abū Bakr was riding behind him on the same mount. Abū Bakr was an elderly man whom people recognised, whereas the Prophet ﷺ was a young man whom they did not yet recognise. News spread through Madinah: ‘The Prophet of Allah has arrived! The Prophet of Allah has arrived!’ He advanced until he stopped beside the house of Abū Ayyūb.” The report continues.

Muḥammad ibn Isḥāq said: “He arrived in the late morning of Monday, the twelfth of Rabīʿ al-Awwal. He stayed with Banū ʿAmr ibn ʿAwf—so it is said—on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, then set out on Friday, and the time for the Friday prayer overtook him…"
