of his uncle, in its place he gave them a grove of date-palms he owned among the Banu Bayadah. They replied, “We present it to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and will accept no payment for it.”
The Prophet ﷺ also built quarters for Ḥamzah, ʿAlī, and Jaʿfar—who at that time were in Abyssinia—and set their dwelling within his own residence, opening their doors into the mosque alongside his door. Later, however, he decided otherwise and had the doors of Ḥamzah and Jaʿfar diverted. (So the narrator stated that they were in Abyssinia, whereas ʿAlī was in fact still in Mecca.) This was related by Ibn ʿĀʾidh from Muḥammad ibn Shuʿayb on his authority.
Mūsā ibn ʿUqbah said: It is reported that when the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and Abū Bakr came close to Madinah, Ṭalḥah ibn ʿUbayd Allāh was returning from Syria. Having heard of the Prophet’s approach, Ṭalḥah set out toward Mecca, either to greet them on the way or for some errand there, carrying Syrian garments he had brought as a gift for Abū Bakr. When he met them, he handed over the garments, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and Abū Bakr put on some of them.
Al-Walīd ibn Muslim narrated from ʿAbd Allāh ibn Yazīd, from Abū al-Biddāḥ ibn ʿĀṣim ibn ʿAdī, from his father: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ arrived in Madinah on a Monday, twelve nights having passed of Rabīʿ al-Awwal, and he remained in the city for ten years.
Ibn Isḥāq said: The well-known view is that he reached Madinah on a Monday after twelve nights of Rabīʿ al-Awwal had elapsed; some, however, say it was after two nights. This was transmitted by Yūnus and others from Ibn Isḥāq.
ʿAbd Allāh ibn Idrīs reported: Ibn Isḥāq told us, from Muḥammad ibn Jaʿfar, from ʿUrwah, from ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn ʿUwaym, who said: Some of my people informed me that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ arrived on a Monday, twelve nights into Rabīʿ al-Awwal. He stayed in Qubāʾ for the rest of that day and three further days, then on Friday he rode out on his she-camel al-Qaṣwāʾ, while the Banu ʿAmr ibn ʿAwf maintain that he stayed with them for eighteen nights.
Zakariyā ibn Isḥāq said: ʿAmr ibn Dīnār narrated to us, from Ibn ʿAbbās
