Ḥammād ibn Khālid al-Khayyāṭ narrated from ʿAbd Allah ibn ʿUmar al-ʿUmarī who said:
“Al-Qāsim and Sālim died—one in the year 105 AH and the other in 106.”
Khalīfa ibn Khayyāṭ said: “He passed away at the end of 106 or the beginning of 107.”
Al-Haytham ibn ʿAdī and Yaḥyā ibn Bukayr stated: “He died in 107,” and Yaḥyā added, “at Qudayd.” (1)
Yaḥyā ibn Maʿīn, ʿAlī ibn al-Madīnī, al-Wāqidī, Abū ʿUbayd, and al-Fallās maintained that his death occurred in 108.
Al-Wāqidī further noted: “He was seventy—or seventy-two—years old at the time, and he had already lost his eyesight.”
Ibn Saʿd gave an isolated report, saying that he died in 112, a date for which no support exists. The same was transmitted by Abū al-Ḥasan ibn al-Barāʾ from ʿAlī. Other dates have also been cited.
Isnād: Ishāq ibn Ṭāriq informed us; Yūsuf ibn Khalīl informed us; Aḥmad ibn Muḥammad informed us; al-Ḥasan ibn Aḥmad informed us; Abū Nuʿaym informed us; Abū Bakr ibn Khallād reported to us; al-Ḥārith ibn Abī Usāma narrated to us; Yazīd narrated to us; Ḥammād ibn Salama, from Ibn Sakhbara, from al-Qāsim, from ʿĀʾisha, reported that the Prophet—peace and blessings be upon him—said:
“The woman who brings the greatest blessing is the one whose cost is the lightest.” (2)
Al-Nasaʾī also recorded the ḥadith through Muḥammad ibn Ismāʿīl ibn ʿUlayya, from Yazīd ibn Hārūn.
Yaḥyā al-Qaṭṭān said: “The jurists of Medina were ten …,” and he listed al-Qāsim among them.
Mālik remarked: “Al-Qāsim did not transmit as many as one hundred ḥadiths.”
