Saʿd (1) ibn Ibrāhīm al-Zuhrī narrated on the authority of Ṭalq ibn Ḥabīb that he said:
“Allah’s claims upon His servants are too weighty for them to discharge, and His favors are too numerous to be counted; therefore, greet each morning in repentance and end each evening in repentance.” (2)
Ibn al-Aʿrābī said: It used to be said, “The legal insight of al-Ḥasan, the scrupulousness of Ibn Sīrīn, the forbearance of Muslim ibn Yasār, and the devotion of Ṭalq”—and Ṭalq would address the people and admonish them. (3)
