Among those who narrated from him were his son Ishāq and Yazīd ibn Abī Ḥabīb.
Al-ʿIjlī judged him trustworthy.
Yazīd said, “Rabīʿah ibn Laqīṭ told me that he was with ʿAmr ibn al-ʿĀṣ in the Year of Unification, when they were showered with fresh blood (1). I myself set out a vessel and it filled up. The people thought the Final Hour had arrived and panicked. ʿAmr stood, praised Allah as He deserves, and then said,
‘People, set right what lies between you; it would not harm you even if these two mountains were to collide.’
ʿAmr ibn al-Ḥārith also transmitted the report from Yazīd, from Rabīʿah: when they were returning from Iraq, the sky rained fresh blood over the Tigris. The people cried, ‘The Resurrection…,’ and he related something to that effect.
203 – Muslim ibn Yasār, Abū ʿAbd Allāh al-Baṣrī * (D, S, Q)
An exemplar, jurist, and ascetic, Abū ʿAbd Allāh al-Baṣrī, a client (mawlā) of the Banū Umayyah—some said a client of the Banū Taym, belonging to the clients of Ṭalḥah (may Allah be pleased with him).
He transmitted from ʿUbādah ibn al-Ṣāmit—though he never met him—and from Ibn ʿAbbās, Ibn ʿUmar, and his father Yasār (it was said that his father enjoyed Companionship), as well as from Abū al-Ashʿath al-Ṣanʿānī and others.
Those who narrated from him include Muḥammad ibn Sīrīn—who was of his own generation—Qatādah, Thābit al-Bunānī, Ayyūb al-Sakhtiyānī, Muḥammad ibn Wāsiʿ, and many others.
