He pointed with his hand toward the Prophet’s grave and said, “They enjoy that very station with him at this moment.” (1)
This was transmitted by Ibn Abī Ḥāzim from his father.
Yahyā ibn Kathīr narrated—from Jaʿfar ibn Muḥammad, from his father—that:
A man came to my father and asked, “Tell me about Abū Bakr.” He replied, “Are you asking about al-Ṣiddīq?” The man said, “And you call him al-Ṣiddīq?” He answered, “May your mother be bereaved of you! Someone better than I—the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, together with the Emigrants and the Helpers—named him al-Ṣiddīq. Whoever will not call him al-Ṣiddīq, may Allah never make his word true. Now go: love Abū Bakr and ʿUmar and hold fast to them; if any blame arises, it is on my neck.” (2)
It is also related from him that a group once visited him and praised him, whereupon he said, “It is enough for us to be counted among the righteous of our people.”
Al-Zubayr, in al-Nasab, reports—with the chain ʿAbd Allāh ibn Ibrāhīm ibn Qudāmah al-Jumaḥī, from his father, from his grandfather, from Muḥammad ibn ʿAlī, from his father—who said:
“A delegation from Iraq came to me, sat in my presence, and spoke about Abū Bakr and ʿUmar, reviling them. Then they turned on ʿUthmān with even harsher words, so I cursed them.” (3)
Ibn ʿUyaynah said that ʿAlī ibn al-Ḥusayn remarked, “I would not trade my portion of humility for a herd of red camels.” (4)
