and he continued to serve as judge until Saʿīd was removed from office in 54 AH.
Salamah al-Abrash said: Ibn Isḥāq narrated to us, saying, “I saw Abū Salamah come to the elementary school, take the boy home with him, and there dictate hadith to him.” (1)
109 – Ibrāhīm ibn ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn ʿAwf al-Zuhrī (B, M)
The leading imam and jurist, Abū Isḥāq al-Zuhrī, al-ʿAwfī, al-Madani.
Some maintained that his kunya was Abū Muḥammad. He was the brother of Abū Salamah the jurist and of Ḥumayd.
He transmitted hadith from his father and from ʿUmar, ʿUthmān, ʿAlī, Saʿd, ʿAmmār ibn Yāsir, Jubayr ibn Muṭʿim, and others.
Those who reported from him include his two sons—Saʿd ibn Ibrāhīm, the judge of Medina, and Ṣāliḥ ibn Ibrāhīm—as well as ʿAṭāʾ ibn Abī Rabāḥ, Ibn Shihāb al-Zuhrī, Muḥammad ibn ʿAmr ibn ʿAlqamah, and many others.
His mother was the Emigrant Umm Kulthūm bint ʿUqbah ibn Abī Muʿayṭ.
It is said that he was present with ʿUthmān (may Allah be pleased with him) during the siege of the caliph’s house.
Al-Nasāʾī and others deemed him trustworthy.
He died in 96 AH at a venerable age, and it is possible that he was born during the lifetime of the Prophet ﷺ.
