‘O Allah, provide for me,’ although he knows that Allah will not cause gold or silver to rain down upon him. Rather, He grants provision to some of them through others. So whoever is given something should accept it; if he is affluent, let him place it with someone in need, and if he is poor, let him make use of it.
Ismāʿīl ibn ʿUbayd Allah said: ʿAbd al-Malik ibn Marwān was sitting on the Rock of Bayt al-Maqdis, with Umm al-Dardaʾ seated beside him. When the call for the sunset prayer was given, he rose (1), and she rose, leaning on ʿAbd al-Malik until he brought her into the mosque, where she would sit with the women, while ʿAbd al-Malik proceeded to the station and led the people in prayer.
Yaḥyā ibn Yaḥyā al-Ghassānī reported: ʿAbd al-Malik ibn Marwān would often sit with Umm al-Dardaʾ in the rear of the mosque in Damascus.
ʿAbd Rabbihi ibn Sulaymān said: Umm al-Dardaʾ performed the pilgrimage in the year 81 AH.
