“When Quraysh branded me a liar, I stood in the Ḥijr, and Allah caused the Temple in Jerusalem to be shown before my very eyes. I then went on describing its features to them while I was actually looking at it.” The two Imams recorded this report.
Ibrāhīm ibn Saʿd related—through Ṣāliḥ ibn Kaysān and Ibn Shihāb—that he heard Ibn al-Musayyib say: “When the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) reached the Temple in Jerusalem he met Abraham, Moses, and Jesus there. Afterward he informed the people that he had been taken on the Night Journey, whereupon many who had prayed with him were shaken in their faith.” He mentioned the rest of the account; this transmission is mursal.
Muḥammad ibn Kathīr al-Miṣṣīṣī narrated to us: Maʿmar narrated, from al-Zuhrī, from ʿUrwah, from ʿĀʾishah, who said: “When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was carried by night to the Farthest Mosque—the Temple in Jerusalem—people began discussing it the next morning, and some who had believed in him apostatized. They hurried to Abū Bakr and said, ‘Have you heard what your companion claims? He alleges that he was taken last night to the Temple in Jerusalem!’ He asked, ‘Did he really say that?’ They replied, ‘Yes.’ He said, ‘If he said it, then it is true.’ They said, ‘You actually believe him about this?’ He answered, ‘Indeed, I believe him in matters far greater than that: I believe him concerning the news of heaven that comes to him morning and evening.’ For this reason Abū Bakr was given the title al-Ṣiddīq (the Truthful One).
Muʿtamir ibn Sulaymān al-Taymī reported, on the authority of his father, that he heard Anas say: “Some of the Companions of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) told me that on the night he was taken on the Night Journey he passed by Moses while Moses was praying in his grave.” He went on to recount the rest of the ḥadīth.
ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz ibn ʿImrān ibn Miqlāṣ al-Faqīh, Yūnus, and others narrated: Ibn Wahb told us; he said: Yaʿqūb ibn ʿAbd al-Raḥmān al-Zuhrī related to me, from his father, from ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Hāshim ibn ʿUtbah ibn Abī Waqqāṣ, from Anas ibn Mālik, who said: “When Gabriel brought the Buraq to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)….” (The narration continues.)
