and Sunqur ibn ʿAbd Allāh informed us in Aleppo; al-Muwaffaq ʿAbd al-Laṭīf, Anjab ibn Abī al-Saʿādāt, together with a group, also informed us, saying:
“Muḥammad ibn ʿAbd al-Bāqī informed us, as did ʿAbd al-Karīm ibn Muḥammad ibn Muḥammad, Aḥmad ibn ʿAbd al-Raḥmān, Muḥammad ibn ʿAlī, Baybars al-ʿAdīmī, Muḥammad ibn Yaʿqūb the judge, and others. They said:
‘Ibrāhīm ibn ʿUthmān informed us; Muḥammad ibn ʿAbd al-Bāqī and ʿAlī ibn ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Tāj al-Qurrāʾ likewise informed us, both of them saying:
“‘Mālik ibn Aḥmad al-Farrāʾ informed us; Aḥmad ibn Muḥammad ibn Mūsā informed us; Ibrāhīm ibn ʿAbd al-Ṣamad narrated to us; Abū Muṣʿab al-Zuhrī dictated to us, from Mālik ibn Anas, from Ibn Shihāb, from ʿAbd Allāh and al-Ḥasan, the two sons of Muḥammad ibn ʿAlī, from ʿAlī ibn Abī Ṭālib—may Allah ennoble his face:
That the Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade mutʿa (temporary marriage) with women on the day of Khaybar, and [forbade] eating the meat of domesticated donkeys. (1)’”
This ḥadīth was recorded by al-Bukhārī and Muslim through Mālik’s narration, and also through the routes of Yūnus, Maʿmar, and ʿUbayd Allāh ibn ʿUmar, all of them from al-Zuhrī.
