—by my recitation— Tirād ibn Muḥammad informed us; Muḥammad ibn Aḥmad ibn Muḥammad al-Narsī informed us; Muḥammad ibn ʿAmr al-Razzāz related to us; Aḥmad ibn ʿAbd al-Jabbār narrated to us; Abū Bakr ibn ʿAyyāsh transmitted from ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz ibn Rufayʿ, from Suwayd ibn Ghafalah, from Abū Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him), who said:
The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said, “Whoever dies without associating anything with Allah will enter Paradise.”
I asked, “Messenger of Allah, even if he commits adultery and even if he steals?”
He replied, “Even if he commits adultery, even if he steals,” and he repeated it three times.
This is an elevated (ʿālī) hadith with a continuous chain of transmission.
It is also recorded in the two Ṣaḥīḥs (1) through the isnād of Zayd ibn Wahb and Abū al-Aswad al-Duʾalī, from Abū Dharr.
However, the version firmly preserved is the narration of Shuʿbah and Jarīr al-Ḍabbī, from ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz ibn Rufayʿ, from Zayd ibn Wahb—and Allah knows best.
19 – Abū Tamīm al-Jayshānī ʿAbd Allah ibn Mālik (M, T, S, Q)
One of the leading Successors in Egypt. His full name is ʿAbd Allah ibn Mālik ibn Abī al-Asḥam, and he was the brother of Sayf. Both were born during the lifetime of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and came to Medina in the time of ʿUmar.
He narrated from ʿUmar, ʿAlī, Abū Dharr, and Muʿādh ibn Jabal, and he recited the Qur’an to Muʿādh.
Among those who transmitted from him are ʿAbd Allah ibn Hubayrah, Kaʿb ibn ʿAlqamah, Marthad ibn ʿAbd Allah al-Yazanī, Bakr ibn Sawādah, and others.
Yazīd ibn Abī Ḥabīb said, “He was among the most devout people of Egypt.”
