I read aloud to Isḥāq ibn Ṭāriq: Ibn Khalīl informed you, Abū al-Makārim al-Taymī informed us, Abū ʿAlī al-Ḥaddād informed us, Abū Nuʿaym the ḥāfiẓ informed us, Fārūq al-Khaṭṭābī narrated to us, Abū Muslim al-Kashshī narrated to us, Maʿmar ibn ʿAbd Allāh narrated to us, Shuʿbah—from al-Ḥakam, from Ibrāhīm, from ʿAlqamah, from ʿAbd Allāh—who said:
The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said, “Allah loves that His concessions be accepted just as He loves that His firm commands be carried out.”
Abū Nuʿaym ⦗1⦘ said, “Maʿmar—this very Maʿmar—alone has transmitted it as a marfūʿ report.”
16 – Junādah ibn Abī Umayyah al-Azdi al-Dawsī * (ʿ)
One of the senior Followers (tābiʿūn).
He narrated from Muʿādh ibn Jabal, ʿUmar, Abū al-Dardāʾ, ʿUbādah ibn al-Ṣāmit, and Busr ibn Abī Artāt.
Those who reported from him include his son Sulaymān, Busr ibn Saʿīd, Mujāhid ibn Jabr, Rajāʾ ibn Ḥaywah, ʿAbd al-Raḥmān al-Ṣunābiḥī—despite his earlier standing—Abū al-Khair Marthad al-Yazanī, ʿUlayy ibn Rabāḥ, ʿUmayr ibn Hāniʾ, ʿUbādah ibn Nusay, and others.
(1) Reported in Abu Nuaym, Hilyat al-awliya, 2/101. The transmitter named Alqama in the chain is Alqama ibn Qays al-Nakhai, not Alqama ibn Waqas as the author mistakenly thought.
Al-Haythami cites the hadith in Majma al-zawaid, 3/162, attributing it to al-Tabarani in al-Kabir and to al-Bazzar, adding: “The narrators in al-Bazzar are trustworthy, and so are those in al-Tabarani.” It has a corroborating chain from Ibn Abbas, recorded by Abu Nuaym in Hilyat al-awliya, 6/276 and declared authentic by Ibn Hibban (no. 913), and another from Ibn Umar, also in Ibn Hibban (no. 914). Ahmad includes it in his Musnad, 2/108, with the wording: “Allah loves that His concessions be accepted just as He hates to be disobeyed.”
