She was a Companion and related two hadiths (1).
She married al-Zubayr ibn al-ʿAwwām and bore him ʿAmr and Khālid.
Among those who transmitted from her were Saʿīd ibn ʿAmr ibn Saʿīd ibn al-ʿĀṣ, Mūsā ibn ʿUqbah, and others.
I believe she was the last of the female Companions to die; she lived until the days of Sahl ibn Saʿd.
Al-Wāqidī said: “Jaʿfar ibn Muḥammad ibn Khālid narrated to me, from Abū al-Aswad, from Umm Khālid bint Khālid, who said: I heard the Negus say, on the day we set out with the two ships, ‘Convey my salām to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, all of you, on my behalf.’ She added: So I was among those who delivered the salām of the Negus to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ (2).”
Al-Ṭayālisī recorded: “Isḥāq ibn Saʿīd narrated to us; my father told me; he said: Umm Khālid bint Khālid narrated to me, saying:
‘Some garments were brought to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and among them was a small black cloak. He asked, “Whom do you think I should dress in this?” When they remained silent, he said, “Bring Umm Khālid to me.”
I was carried to him, and he put it on me with his own hand, then said, “Wear it out and wear it threadbare,” repeating it twice. He then looked at the cloak’s yellow and red design and said, “This is sanā, O Umm Khālid—this is sanā,” pointing with his finger to the pattern. In Abyssinian, sanā means ‘beautiful.’
Isḥāq added: A woman from my family later told me that she had seen that cloak with Umm Khālid (3).’”
