From al-ʿIrbāḍ who said:
“Were it not that people would say, ‘Abū Najīḥ did such-and-such,’ I would have devoted my entire estate as a sublah (public endowment), then withdrawn to one of the valleys of Lebanon to worship Allah there until I die.” (1)
Shuʿbah reported, through Abū al-Fayḍ, that he heard Abū Ḥafṣ al-Ḥimṣī say:
“Muʿāwiyah once gave al-Miqdād a donkey taken from the war-booty. Al-ʿIrbāḍ ibn Sāriyah said to him, ‘It was not lawful for you to accept it, nor for him to give it to you. I can almost see you in the Fire, carrying it on your back!’ So al-Miqdād returned it.”
Abū Mushir and others said: “Al-ʿIrbāḍ died in the year 75 AH.”
72 – Sahl ibn Saʿd ibn Saʿd ibn Mālik al-Khazrajī (ʿ)
He was the son of Khālid ibn Thaʿlabah—an eminent, virtuous, long-lived Companion, one of the last survivors of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. His kunya was Abū al-ʿAbbās al-Khazrajī, the Anṣārī, al-Sāʿidī.
His father was among the Companions who passed away during the Prophet’s lifetime.
Sahl used to say, “I witnessed the two spouses invoking mutual imprecation before the Messenger of Allah ﷺ when I was fifteen years old.”
