Al-Tayālisi reports—on the authority of Abū Khaldah:
I asked Abū al-ʿĀliyah, “Did Anas hear directly from the Prophet ﷺ?”
He replied, “He served him for ten years, and the Prophet prayed for him. He owned an orchard that produced fruit twice each year, and in it grew sweet basil whose fragrance was like musk.” (1)
Abū Khaldah is reliable.
Mūsā ibn Anas related that Anas took part in eight military campaigns. (2)
Thābit al-Bunānī narrated that Abū Hurayrah said, “I have never seen anyone whose prayer resembled the prayer of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ more than the son of Umm Sulaym—meaning Anas.” (3)
Anas ibn Sīrīn said, “Anas ibn Mālik offered the finest prayer of all people, whether at home or on a journey.” (4)
Al-Anṣārī narrated—from his father, from Thumāmah—that “Anas would pray until his feet split open and bled because of how long he stood in worship.”
Thābit al-Bunānī also said: The caretaker of Anas’s land once came and said, “Your land is parched.” So Anas put on his cloak, went out to the open countryside, prayed, and supplicated. A cloud rose, drifted over his land, and rained until his cistern was filled—this in the height of summer. He then sent a member of his household, saying, “See how far the rain has reached.” They found that it had gone no farther than the borders of his property, save for a small distance beyond. (5)
