Indeed, the subject of this entry is the nephew of the Companion Maḥmiya ibn Jazʾ al-Zubaydī (1).
He lived to an advanced age, went blind, and died in the village of Saft al-Qudūr in Lower Egypt in 86 AH (2).
Others say he passed away in 87, and some place it in 85, but the first date is sounder and more widely accepted.
His reports are found in Sunan Abū Dāwūd, the Jāmiʿ of Abū ʿĪsā, and the Sunan of al-Qazwīnī—and Allah knows best.
