It is also transmitted through another chain that reaches this very Saʿīd.
Al-Madāʾinī and a number of others said, “Abū Umāmah passed away in the year 86 AH.” Ismāʿīl ibn ʿAyyāsh said, “He died in the year 81 AH.”
53 – ʿAbd Allāh ibn al-Zubayr ibn al-ʿAwwām ibn Khuwaylid al-Asadī, son of Asad ibn ʿAbd al-ʿUzzā ibn Quṣayy ibn Kilāb ibn Murrah. He bore the title “Commander of the Believers” and was known by the kunyas Abū Bakr and Abū Khubayb. A Qurashī of the Asad clan—Meccan by birth and later a resident of Medina—he was one of the great luminaries of his generation. He was the son of the Prophet’s cousin and close disciple, the Imām Abū ʿAbd Allāh al-Zubayr, the ḥawārī (devoted supporter) of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.
His Musnad comprises roughly thirty-three hadiths.
Al-Bukhārī and Muslim both agreed upon one hadith from him; al-Bukhārī alone narrates six more, and Muslim two. (1)
ʿAbd Allāh was the first child born to the Emigrants in Medina. He was born in the year 2 AH, though some say in the year 1 AH.
