Allah then sowed enmity between Amr ibn al-As and Umara ibn al-Walid as they traveled together. Amr devised a plot against him and said, “You are a handsome man; go to the Negus’s wife and converse with her whenever her husband is away—this will help us obtain what we want.” Umara corresponded with her until he was finally admitted into her presence.
